Mandatory

(1) Online Application

(2) Official Degree Certificate and Transcripts

  • For all undergraduate and graduate degree
  • Certified documents with apostille attached (or Korean embassy certificate) are preferred.
  • If you are expected to graduate, you can replace your degree or diploma with a certificate of the expected graduation or an official letter from your university confirming your expected graduation. The replacement must include your name, the degree to be conferred, and the date of degree conferment.
  • Transcripts must include information of the grading system, courses completed, grades or marks earned, cumulative grade points average (CGPA) and personal rank(if possible). If the transcript does not indicate the grading scale, submit a supplementary document describing the university’s grading system.
  • Applicants who graduated from universities in China can substitute official degree and transcript with verification report issued by CSSD (学信网, http://www.chsi.com.cn)

(3) Two Letters of Recommendation

  • We receive recommendation letters only electronically from the referees.
  • In the online application form, you will be required to fill in the information of your referees. Then, if you click the “Send a Recommendation Form” button, each of the two referees will receive an automated email regarding how to upload a recommendation letter.
  • Referees must use the designated recommendation form and upload their recommendation letters by the application deadline.
  • People who have worked closely with you in either academic or professional field such as faculty members or work supervisors are eligible for writing the recommendation letter.
  • Only for GIST graduates who apply for Ph. D. program to the same academic advisor, the recommendation letters can be replaced with ‘Confirmation Certificate for Ph. D. Applicant’

(4) An Official English Proficiency Test Score Report

  • Minimum scores: 80(TOEFL iBT), 550(TOEFL PBT), 6.5(Academic IELTS), 750(TOEIC), 285(NEW TEPS)
  • The English test must be taken within two years before the application deadline.
  • Exemption from the English proficiency test score requirement
    • Native born citizen of Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK or USA
    • Applicants holding bachelor or advanced degrees from universities physically located in one of the countries listed above (*prior approval of GIST is required)
  • Conditional Admission (Temporary Exemption)
    • Instead of EPT score, applicant can submit a Certificate of English Language Proficiency issued by the president or the dean of the last school attended
    • There is no designated form, but it must indicate that the medium of instruction was English
  • ※ Successful students admitted to GIST with conditional admission due to unavailability of official English test results must, within 6 months from the date of admission, submit official English test results that meet the application criteria of the Institute. Any persons who have been conditionally admitted to GIST, but fail to fulfill the requirements stated above, will automatically be removed from the school register 6 months after the date of admission.

(5) A Copy of the Applicant’s Passport

If applicable

(1) A Letter of Recommendation for Matriculation Fee Waiver

  • A letter of recommendation for the Matriculation Fee waiver must be written by the department chair of your last attended/current university.

(2) Certificate of English Language Proficiency

  • Conditional admission requires applicants to submit documentation related to English proficiency issued by the President or the Dean of the last school attended.
  • The documentation of English language proficiency must indicate that the medium of instruction was English.

(3) Additional Reference

  • School profile of the university you attended or are attending. (It may include information about demography, programs, grading system, and ranking.)
  • List of honors and awards with the documents to prove your academic achievements.
