GIST makes full fledged effort to support young future scientists



- Continues 8 years’ of science book donation event held in ‘the month of science’ -



- Supporting 10 local elementary students including YangSan Elementary School-

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST, president: Jung Ho SONU) which is gaining attention for various local cooperation activities such as after-school tutoring institutions, is active in nurturing young future scientists.



 



GIST stated on April 20, 2010, that it donated science books equivalent to about 1.2 million won for each of the 10 local elementary schools including YangSan Elementary School.



 



This event which started with an aim to increase local students’ interest in science and raise their scientific awareness marks its 8th anniversary. In particular, by researching beforehand about the science books that the students of each school wish to read the most and then donating them, this donation event has been receiving positive response.



 



Mr. Yong-ryul KIM, section chief of International and Public Affairs in GIST, who attended the donation event held in YangSang Elementary School said “I hope our future scientists could increase their understanding and interest in various science fields by reading”.
