In March, four students of the University of Philippine, a reputable national university of the Philippines, visited Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).  
Participants to an overseas exchange Intern Program at GIST, they undertook various research activities over the past four months at GIST.

                                                                                                       
On June 3, the day they were to return to the Philippines after the final ceremony, nine students from Harbin Institute of Technology arrived.

One of China뭩 universities in six fields of concentration, Harbin Institute of Technology, established in 1920, is regarded as one of the country뭩 best science and technology colleges with prominent research technical capacity in the field of engineering, especially aerospace.

The students, who were educated in their respective schools, were elected based on recommendations after a strict assessment process in that country in order to participate in the GIST Intern Program.

At GIST, they will be working under a professor considering their majors, and receive full financial support for their stay in Korea while they carry out various research activities. In particular, the academic credits they acquire at GIST lectures will also be accepted at their local schools, which is why the program is highly popular among students.

Hee-Chul Choi, Head of International and Public Affairs at GIST says, 뱈any of the students that were in the internship come back to GIST as full-time students and they are growing as GIST뭩 core talents? He adds, 뱓he Intern Program is not a one-time course, but it is leading to the acquisition of global talents?

GIST President Jung-Ho Sonu and officials are focusing on expanding the network of cooperation with major education institutes abroad. They are promoting the school to Asia, Europe and the Americas, and discussing specific cooperative measures to acquire more talents. The success of the GIST Program is the result of such efforts toward active international exchange.

Interests in the GIST Intern Program have spread to Eastern Europe. In September this year, five students of Babe?Bolyai University, Romania뭩 No. 1 university, will be participating in the program.

GIST will continue to concentrate its efforts to target major universities abroad and vitalize its overseas exchange program to promote the image of a global school and attract more talents.
