Samsung LED to Donate 720million Won Worth High-tech Research Equipment to GIST



To reinforce industry-academia cooperation between GIST and Samsung LED

Samsung LED recently donated state-of-the-art research equipment to Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).



 



GIST (President Jung-Ho Sonu) announced that recently, Samsung LED (CEO Jea-Wook Kim) donated 14 different types of research equipment worth 720million Korean Won, including MOCVD.



 



On June 3, Samsung LED CEO Kim visited GIST to participate in a donation ceremony, and GIST President Sonu presented Kim with a Plaque of Appreciation to express the schools appreciation toward the kind gesture.

Founded in April, Samsung LED possesses the world’s top technology and manufacturing capacity in all processes of LED, from EPI, FAB, PKG and modules. Samsung’s strategy is to take the lead in the field of display LED and in new growth areas, such as car LED.



 



Director of GIST LED Research Center, Sung-Ju Park says, The state-of-the-art LED research equipment donated by Samsung LED is expected to contribute significantly to R&D activities of GIST students, and added, we will continue to work to build a successful industry-academia cooperation model through mutual cooperation with Samsung LED.
