The Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology, or GIST once again gained recognition for its outstanding nano research capabilities in "NanoKorea 2010," one of the biggest nano festivals in Korea.

Professor Yong-tak Lee (School of Information & Communication) and Tak-hee Lee (School of Materials Science & Engineering) both received award for their excellence in research innovation at the event which was opened on 18.

The award given in the name of the Minister of Education, Science and Technology goes to three researchers who have made remarkable achievements in nano research; the two GIST professors were selected as this year"s awardees along with Doe-hyun Kim Korea, a professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, or KAIST.

Professor Yong-tak Lee got credit for his achievements in optoelectronics device research including recent development of parabolic ultra wideband antireflective nanostructure with an effective refractive index. Professor Tak-hee Lee is the world"s first scientist to identify the mechanism by which electric charge moves inside single molecule-based nano transistor device while leading the research into such areas as molecular electronic devices and organic memory devices.

The 2010 Nano Korea Awards ceremony took place on 18 in Kintex, Ilsan in which awards were given for categories including research innovation.

Meanwhile, the largest scale nano-related exhibition and symposium in Korea were also held alongside the event, with experts from industry, academic, and research participating
