Lead development of water-quality management plans to ensure sustainable development in Southeast Asia

Workshop is held in Vietnam organized by GIST IERC

The International Environment Research Center, or IERC (Director Hor-
Gil Hur, Professor of School of Environmental Science & Engineering) is leading the way in finding ways to ensure sustainable water quality management for Southeast Asian countries.

The IERC held the 2nd Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research, or APN for two days from July 27 to 28 at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) in Vietnam. The workshop was mainly focused on strategic policy for sustainable urban water-quality management in the Southeast Asia region, and major cities there, including Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Bandong in Indonesia, Bangkok in Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam became research subjects. 

This event featured discussions primarily on methods of analysis for sustainable water-quality management in Southeast Asia and capacity enhancement programs in the field of science. the event also led to the creation of a Learning Alliance Group, or LAG on strategic policy made up of scientists and policymakers from each participating country.

Meanwhile, this workshop was organized by the IERC led by Dr.Suthipong Sthiannopkao under the auspices of the APN, and 45 scientists and policy planners from Southeast Asia region joined the event.
