2011 Commencement of GIST Global Internship Program
The section of International and Public affairs (Director Hong kook, Kim) announced that the 2011 Commencement for GIST Global Internship Program was held on May 30. The GIST Global Internship Program, first launched in 2008, has been serving as a gateway for honor students to have opportunities to experience the world-class research laboratories of GIST. It also made significant impact on GIST"s attractiveness and openness to international students.
In 2011, the program has invited over 20 students from abroad, including three Soviet-Koreans. Their origin institutes include Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Philippines Diliman, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and Tashkent University of Information Technologies.
All of internship participants have successfully completed required courses without single failure. Nurfaizah Abu Tahrim, a phD student from UKM, says, "I feel so lucky and happy to have this great opportunity. Now I can come back to my home institute with incomparable experience and unforgettable memories."
"We already started pre-steps for the next term of the Global Internship Program. The initial screening process for admission has begun. We are planning to accept top 20 applicants from all around the world", explains Mr. Gil-hwan Hyun, the executive administrator at the office of external affairs and development in GIST, who is in charge of the internship program. "Speaking of the chance of being admitted to GIST"s degree programs, the data tells that 11 out of the total 80 students who had made through the internship program have been accepted" he adds.
