GIST has recorded the most number of SCI grade theses per capita with 1.41 papers recorded as of September 2011. Postech has claimed the second position with 1.29 followed by 1.01 paper of KAIST and 0.84 paper of Sungkyunkwan University.

In proportion to the excellent research performance, GIST produced a remarkable number of professors who have completed their master"s and doctorate courses at GIST graduate school.

According to the "GIST Graduates" Professor Appointment Status," submitted by GIST to lawmaker Sundong-Kim of Grand National Party, 83 GIST graduates were appointed as a professor(16 Masters, 67 Doctors) by universities in Korea and abroad.
