GIST, Ultra-strong Laser Facility Recognized Globally

- GIST Advanced Photonics Research Institute Owns Petawatt Laser Facility

- Participating the Member of Establishing IZEST

 

 

Advanced Photonics Research Institute(Director, In-Won Lee) of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology(GIST, President Jung-Ho, SONU) announced that its ultra-strong laser facility called "Ultrashort Quantum Beam Facility" participates in IZEST(International Center on Zetawatt-Exawatt Science and Technology) as a member. The ultra-strong laser facility of Advanced Photonics Research Institute already developed femtosecond Ti : Sapphire laser system whose instant output is 1 Petawatt last year supported by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. As it became a member of IZEST formation, the research institute is recognized as a world-class research institute.
