Prof. Jon Sang-Yong"s Research Team to Develop "Aptide"

Combination of the advantages of antibody and peptid…Show the possibility of developing new generation medicine

A new peptid platform (aptide), well combined with a dieses target like antibody with good productivity and stability, is firstly developed by a research team of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, president Sonu Jung-Ho). That opens up the possibility of developing new generation diagnosis and medicine. Peptide is a group of compounds consisting of two or more (below 50) amino acids linked with each other. Its ingredient is equal to that of protein, but its size is far smaller than that of protein. It is a kind of protein piece. The result of this research, led by Professor Jon Sang-Yong in the Department of Life Science at GIST, was published on the January issue of "Angewandte Chemie", a world"s leading chemistry journal.
