2013 GIST Global Internship Program
The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President: Young Joon Kim) launches the Global Internship Program (GIP) 2013 as part of its efforts for international cooperation. The GIP 2013 is a six-week-long program beginning on July 1 and ending on August 16, 2013 and is open to students enrolled in and recommended by overseas institutes that signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GIST as well as student who selected through open competition. Selecting interns among recommended students will be completed by March 15, after which they will be informed of their supervisors and labs. Benefits for the 2013 GIST GIP participants include dormitory fees, a one-way air ticket, health insurance covers and programs designed to help them adapt themselves to new environments, as well as living allowances. The number of interns to be selected for the year 2013 is 30: 21 institutes including Caltech, Imperial College London and the Mauritian Ministry of Tertiary Education Science Research and Technology each have a nomination of one candidate, while the remaining number will be filled with candidates selected in open competition. GIST will spare no support to help and encourage the GIP interns find their academic career pathways from GIST, and the institute also expects that the internship program will serve as a momentum to further promote research cooperation and student exchanges between GIST and its MoU partners.
