Researchers at the Center for Seawater Desalination Plant led by Prof. In S Kim win the best paper award by an international journal

 

  named as the best paper among papers published "Applied Water Science" in 2012~2013

 

 

 

 

 

 

Applied Water Science is an open access journal published by Springer and supported by KACST (King AbdullAziz City for Science and Technology) which is a state-run research institute of Saudi Arabia. Among research papers published on Applied Water Science between 2011~2012, a paper co-authored by seven researchers at the Center for Seawater Desalination Plant, including Prof. In S Kim at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of GIST as corresponding author, was named as the best research paper.

 

Entitled as “An Ambitious Step to the Future Desalination Technology,” this paper identified three key strategies to promote the efficiency of reserve osmosis (RO) technology, which will continue to play a pivotal role in seawater desalination market (enlargement, low fouling and low energy) and presented R&D results on each of the three strategies. A plaque, gold medal and prize money ($5,000) were awarded to the winner, who contributed most of the prize money to the Korean Society of Environmental Engineers.

 

Last month, Lux Research of the US, which is a global market research agency, announced “Top Academics and Institutions in Water Research 2013” and GIST ranked 7^th on the list. As such, the excellence of GIST is recognized the world over through its research on seawater desalination.
