- A fundraising event at the 20th anniversary festival: 942,000 KRW delivered to UNICEF.

International students from the Philippines set up a booth in the 2013 GIST Campus Festival on November 13 for fundraising to help the typhoon victims in their homeland.

□ The Korean government has decided to dispatch a group of 500 military forces to areas in the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Hainan and many helping hands are reaching the region from every corner of the nation. Students at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President ž Young Joon Kim) raised funds to help the Philippians during their school festival and delivered the funds to Korean Committee for UNICEF.

□ On November 13, the GIST students organized this fundraising event as part of the 2013 GIST Campus Festival, where both local and international students celebrated the 20th anniversary of their university together. And on November 25 they donated 942,000 won to the Korean Committee for UNICEF.

□ During the festival, international students from the Philippines set up a booth and sold mango, rice cake and juice to raise funds. On top of that, local and international graduate students from India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan also sold meal tickets and raised funds to help the sufferers.

□ To help the Philippines victimized by the typhoon, they sold a meal ticket for 2,000 won. Around 300 GIST students offered help by purchasing the meal tickets and donating 5,000 to 50,000 won.
