GIST Professor Dong-Yu Kim Appointed as a fellow Member of KAST

- Recognized for outstanding research accomplishments in organic solar cells and organic light emitting diodes

 

 

 

 

 

 

□ Professor Dong-Yu Kim, 51, in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President ž Young Joon Kim) was appointed as a fellow member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST), the league of erudite scholars in science and technology.

□ Professor Kim earned his doctorial degree from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and joined GIST in 1999. Since then, he has focused on research in the fields of: nano-patterning using photo-reactive substances such as azobenzene; composition of nanostructures; composition of organic-based electronic materials and their applications to organic electronic devices such as organic solar cells, organic thin-film transistors, organic memories and organic light emitting diodes; and the physical properties of organic electronic devices and relevant processes.

□ Professor Kim’s outstanding research competence and accomplishments have been recognized by winning the Nano Korea Research Innovation Award in 2006, the GIST Education Award in 2007 and the GIST Research Award in 2009.

□ KAST was founded in 1994 as a league of eminent scientists with the keenest insights and the richest experience in their fields and has been devoted to the promotion and development of the nation’s science and technology. KAST held the title plaque awarding ceremony in its auditorium at 5pm on January 17.
