GIST is ranked as the ‘Best Group’ in the university entrepreneurship index

Maekyung Economy is a specialized business magazine that has evaluated ‘University entrepreneurship index’ by using university information disclosures from the Ministry of Education, data from BI-NET (business incubator network) of the Small Business Administration, data and advice from Business Incubator Association Incorporated and Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, and startup infrastructures, support, and performance of each university collected from 2014.

* Evaluation of startup infrastructures were based on the presence of dedication of organization, technology commercialization, incubator space, experts, number of established clubs, and various lectures related on startup. * Evaluation of startup support were based on class size, management, and the evaluation results from the Business Incubator centers. * Evaluation of startup performance were based on the general performance of new enterprises, including and sales and employment numbers.

Maekyung Economy has categorized their evaluation results into five group rankings: Best Group (top 5%), Outstanding Group (5~15%), A Group (15~30%), B Group (30~50%), and C Group (above 50%).

Director Sung Kun Ki of GIST"s Business Incubator Center said, “We received the top ranking evaluation because of excellent support for startups here at GIST. We fully support student entrepreneurship through its own incubator space, manage test entrepreneurship programs, and our G Factory helps them to turn their ideas into successful products services.”

24% of GIST students participated in entrepreneurship training program in 2015. 6% (114 students) of the student body are actively participating in 16 startup clubs.

Through GIST’s student entrepreneurship support, NeuroFit, Inc. (CEO Jun Gil Bin) and Bella, Inc. (CEO Deuk Jo Gong) are among the most successful student ventures.

Director Sung Kun Ki also said, “We will continue to strive to lead the regional economy and create jobs through a tailored step-by-step support of campus technology venture developments and initial startup companies in the area.”
