The Korean pioneer in the femtosecond (one millionth of one billionth, of a second) laser research, professor Nam Chang Hee(54) proceeded to his new post in the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST · President · Young Joon Kim).

     In IBS(Institute for Basic Science) GIST Campus, Professor Nam who is going to lead ‘High-power Laser Science Research Group’ is planning to △figure out Relativistic Laser-Matter Interactions which are occurred in extreme environments △create a variety of applications by using them △ study High-Speed Phenomena that happen in the micro-world (Atom · Molecule · Subatom) to execute a research for developing precision control technology.
