Nano scholars from home and abroad gather in GIST
- Nanobio Materials and Electronics-Gruenberg Center Joint International Symposium(20~22)

- Japan NHK, expecting to interview investment into science and technology for producing novel prize laureates

On the 18th, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GISTPresident, Kim Young-Joon)announced that ‘the 6th WCU Nanobio Materials and Electronics - Gruenberg magnetism nanomaterial research center joint symposium’ will be held at Oryong Hall, in GIST, from 20th to 22nd, 2012.

‘Department of Nanobio Materials and Electronics’ is a department consisting of professors of IT engineering department, new material engineering department, electric generation engineering department, and renowned scholars from 10 universities in 5 overseas countries under the WCU(World Class University) development project by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

‘Gruenberg magnetism nanomaterial research center’ which opened in May is one of four Nobel research centers having names of Nobel Prize laureates invited by GIST. Invited professor, Peter A. Gruenberg (Germany, 73) is a world renowned scholar which received a Nobel physics prize in 2007 for his deed of developing magnetic material with significantly high agglomeration degree of a computer storage device. Professor Gruenberg is currently working on developing polarized spin transmission and dynamics basics research, searching for new magnetic material, and developing semiconductor technology based spin device technology.

In this symposium, world renowned researchers of nano, magnetic field from home and abroad will attend to share recent research results and discuss the direction of joint research and development.
