[Press Release] GIST, Won a Cooperative Project of United Nations Development Program (UNDP)

 

 

The International Environmental Analysis and Education Center (IEAEC) at GIST, Won UNDP Project

- Support of $300,000 for 3 years

- Training for experts in quality of water from African, South East Asian countries

 

 

 

   The International Environmental Analysis and Education Center (IEAEC) at the Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology (GIST· President, Kim Young-Joon) revealed on 16th October, 2012 that they won the project of  ‘Korea-UNDP Cooperative Business Project’ in the volume of $300,000 (approximately 333 million KRW) for the sake of improvement of water quality of Africa and South-East Asian countries.

   ‘Korea-UNDP Cooperative Business Project’ is Korea’s donor program starting on the status of a purely donor country from 2010 in order to accomplish the Millennium Development initiative by UN. And the project has been carried out in diverse activities such as advice, training, workshop, development of teaching material, publication of the materials, and support of equipment in the areas of education, science and technology.

   According to this project, the International Environmental Analysis and Education Center (IEAEC) invites professors who are related to the quality of water, and researchers in African and South East Asian countries to GIST two times a year for the next 3 years on the concept of ‘Training on science and technology for monitoring’ of the quality of water and sustainable management of water, and resources. And IEAEC plans to provide lectures about monitoring of the quality of water, programs for actual practice and others.
