1,598 applications have been received for the regular screening to admit 163 students, and 120 for the equal opportunity screening to admit 12 underprivileged students. 914 applicants (53.2%) are from science high schools, 752 (43.8%) from regular high schools, and 52 (3.0%) from others, which include high schools in other countries.

Applicants who pass document-based screening are to go through interviews from October 28 through 31 and the 175 final passers are scheduled to be announced on November 21. The remaining 25 of the 200 freshmen will be selected through regular admissions in December.

Established in 2010, GIST College pursues a liberal arts education system focusing on the selected few. The student to faculty ratio is maintained at 10:1 and all students live in residential colleges on campus. School fees are waivered and the level of educational investment per student is the highest in Korea.

GIST College’s Dean Noh, Do Young said, “GIST College has the lowest student to faculty ratio in Korea and will keep the class size small at 200. Our vision is cultivating true global leaders in science and technology with broad knowledge in humanities and social sciences as well.”
