GIST and four other science-technology specialized universities of Korea have agreed to allow their undergraduate students to move around and take courses for credit. In a meeting of their deans of academic affairs held in KAIST in Daejeon on November 28, the five institutions signed an agreement on student exchange and credit recognition.

Under the agreement, bachelor’s course students of the five science-technology specialized universities will be able to take courses for credit at any of the institutions in regular semesters as well as in summer or winter terms. While taking courses, the students will also be granted full access to campus facilities.

Specific rules governing credit recognition vary from school to school; for students of GIST College, up to 30 credits out of the 130 credits required for graduation may be taken at other science-technology universities.

Professor Chul-Seung Park, GIST Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, said, “The agreement will allow our students to choose from a wider pool of course subjects. It also carries significance in that the science-technology universities have created a new model of cooperation by sharing their excellent curriculums.”
