and Chonnam National University Professor Jong-Oh Park

With the recent global news of the epic "man versus machine" go competition between Google"s AlphaGo computer algorithm and the very human Sedol Lee, there has been a widespread increase in the public"s attention and interest in artificial intelligence.  To encourage a greater understanding of the current trends and direction of artificial intelligence and robotics, GIST will be hosting a special symposium entitled "A preview into the world of artificial intelligence and robotics" to be held at 2:00 pm on April 29, 2016, in room 115 of GIST College Building A.

The symposium will include a variety of experts, including famed UCLA Professor Dennis Hong (Mechanical and Aerospace Engingeering), Seoul National University Professor Byoung-Tak Jang (Computer Science), Chonnam National University Professor Jong-Oh Park (Department of Medical System Engineering) who will speak about the medical uses of nano-robotics.

The symposium will be hosted by GIST College Professor Gunoo Kim who specializes in the study of law and ethics. Professor Kim stated, "With the advent of a post-human era and the development of an entirely new civilization for humanity based on a greater integration of artificial intelligence and robotics in our lives, this symposium will be a significant opportunity for us to discuss how society can best prepare for the future."
