a

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST • President Seung Hyeon Moon) held a dedication ceremony on August 3, 2016, for the newly designed GIST Promotion Hall and Wall of Fame, which are located on the first floor of the Main Administration Building (S2). For the first time since the establishment of GIST in 1993, the Main Administration Building was completely renovated. The dedication ceremony was attended by GIST members, by the GIST Development Fund Vice President, and by 50 other guests.

The GIST Promotion Hall includes display areas for exhibitions and even includes a media table. Currently on exhibit are flexible transparent electronics developed by Professor Kwanghee Lee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, large area micro-pattern generation technology developed by Professor Sun Kyu Lee of School of Mechanical Engineering, a seeing thru computation process developed by Professor Heung-No Lee of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, research regarding the onset of degenerative arthritis by Professor Jang-Soo Chun of the School of Life Sciences, as well as other representative examples of the quality research being conducted at GIST.

The Wall of Fame is a tribute to the patrons who have donated to GIST as well as those who have left an indelible mark on the growth and evolution of GIST. There is sufficient space for future patrons of GIST to be added to the Wall of Fame.

Perhaps the most touching moment of the dedication ceremony came when Professor Kiseon Kim of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science donated 100,000,000 won for the student scholarship fund, demonstrating his commitment not only to the school but to the students as well.

GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "The GIST Promotion Hall and Wall of Fame is a culmination of the last 20 years of GIST"s history and will now be used to clearly communicate the vision and future direction of GIST to visitors as well as to the local community."
