Three GIST alumni selected as top 1% researcher in the world

□ Three GIST alumni who received their Ph.D.'s from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) were declared 1% of top researchers in the world by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Science Division).

∘ Clarivate Analytics announces the top 1% of researchers by analyzing the number of citations of research papers published by researchers in the global scientific and social sciences for four years from 2014.

∘ The highly cited researcher (HCR) list is based on an analysis of more than 130,000 papers published over the past 11 years from January 2005 to December 2015 based on the "Web of Science," one of the largest databases of academic information in the world.

□ 30 researchers (28 Koreans and 2 foreigners) from Korea are among the 3,300 top researchers in the world. Three graduated from GIST, including Johns Hopkins University Professor Sung-ki Lee, Sungkyunkwan University Professor Jae-hyung Park, and Korea Institute of Science and Technology researcher Kwang Myung Kim.
