Park Byung-ryeol, President of Cheomdan Medical Center in Gwangju Donated 10 Million KRW to the GIST – He visited his alma mater to make a contribution of 10 million KRW. “I hope this will be helpful to nurture scientists and engineers who will lead regional development,” – President Park is the first graduate of GIST - Tsinghua University Techno CEO Program” hosted by GIST Techno MBA and played a crucial role in establishing GIST’s alumni association. □ Cheomdan Medical Center is one of the major hospitals at Cheomdan Area. President Park Byung-ryeol of the medical center donated 10 million KRW to Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President ž Young Joon Kim) as part of its development fund. ○ President Park visited the GIST on the morning of March 28th (Friday) and made a contribution of 10 million KRW, saying “I hope this will be helpful to foster talented scientists and engineers of the future.” To express its gratitude for the donation, the GIST held a delivery ceremony for the donation and awarded an appreciation plaque to him. ○ President Park decided to make the donation as “Fostering talented scientists and engineers is a meaningful investment in regional and national development. The GIST has trained talented scientists and engineers for the last 20 years and they are now at the center of our nation’s technology and science sectors. Therefore, I’m sure that the GIST has excellent potential for the most important education and research center in Gwangju.” □ President Park is the first graduate of “GIST - Tsinghua University Techno CEO Program” hosted by GIST Techno MBA (GTMBA) opened in 2010 and is an alumnus of the GIST. ○ President Park played an essential role in establishing GIST’s alumni association in 2012 despite various difficulties and is the financial manager of the alumni association since its inception. He was selected as the winner of “Distinguished Alumni Award” by the association as a recognition of this services. □ President Kim Young-joon of the GIST says, “President Park’s donation made me feel a strong sense of responsibility as the person in charge of fostering creative and talented scientists and engineers and obtaining superb research achievements, which are main objectives of the GIST. President Park’s valuable donation will be used as scholarship for GIST students.”
