Professor Lee Jae-Suk at GIST awarded the Order of Science and Technology Merit -Honored by the government in celebration of ‘Science Day’ …for contribution to science and technology advancement including development of functional polymer – Professor Jang Jae-hyung, Kim Won-bae and Ahn Hyo-seung and faculty Bae Yeon-hee and Jung Jae-hyung awarded the prize of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (Photo) GIST faculty members awarded the prize of the government in celebration of the 47th ‘Science Day.’ (Clockwise from the left on the top row) Professor Lee Jae-Suk, Jang Jae-hyung, Kim Won-bae, Ahn Hyo-sung, Senior Administrative Staff Bae Yeon-hee, Technician Jung Jae-hyung □ Professor Lee Jae-suk (59) at School of Material Science & Engineering at GIST was awarded the Order of Science and Technology Merit by the government as one of the awardees honored for the contribution to advancement of science and technology in celebration of the 47th Science Day (April 21). ○ Also 3 professors, Jang Jae-hyung (44) at School of Information & Communications and Kim Won-bae (42) at School of Material Science & Engineering, Ahn Hyo-sung (42) at School of Mechatronics and 2 faculty members, Senior Administrative Staff Bae Yeon-hee (41) and Technician Jung Jae-hyung (55) were awarded the prize of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning for their superb research accomplishment and contribution to advancement of science and technology. □ Professor Lee Jae-suk, won the medal of the Order of Science and Technology Merit for his contribution to science and technology including discovery of the living mechanism of poly isethionate for the first time in the world and the development of functional polymer used for core materials like optical devices and fuel cell development. ○ Joining GIST in 1998, the very early years of GIST foundation, Professor Lee has been serving as the head of School of Material Science & Engineering, Research Center and the Industry-Academy Partnership Institute, making contribution to the development of science and technology of the nation as well as the school. □ Professor Jang Jae-hyung at School of Information & Communications, the winner of the prize of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning has been working on research of chemical compounds-based ultra high frequency devices and has been demonstrating remarkable accomplishments including about 80 postings at SCI international journals and registration of 19 patents home and abroad. □ Professor Kim Won-bae, joining the School of Material Science & Engineering of GIST 2005 has been actively engaged in next generation energy devices and materials research and academic activities and has been gaining attention as a new leader in the field, being designated as recipient of ‘Young Scientist Research Support Project’ from 2005 to 2008. □ Professor Ahn Hyo-sung at School of Machetronics who was designated as one of GIST Dasan Professor last year has been contributing to advancement and globalization of controlled automation with development of hardware for tele-operation surgical robot and unmanned formation flight aircraft. He also has been widely recognized with frequent citation in international journals. (*Dasan Professor: Professor specially horned by GIST for the world class academic and research accomplishment or superb performance in the fields of education, research and other academic activities.) □ On Science Day (April 21 every year) the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning awards those who made significant contribution to science and technology development to motivate and honor those in the field of science and technology. The celebration and award event of the 47th Science Day was held at Gwacheon National Science Museum April 21 (Monday) 11:00 AM.
