GIST International Environmental Research Center Director Joon Ha Kim receives "Technology Award" from the Korea Federation of Water Science and Engineering Societies

Professor Joon Ha Kim of the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and who is also the director of the GIST International Environmental Research Center has received the "Technology Award" from the Korean Society of Water & Wastewater and the Korea Federation of Water Science and Engineering Societies Kim on March 23, 2017, at the Kim Daejung Convention Center.

The "Technology Award" is presented to a person or organization who has made remarkable technological developments for the water industry. Professor Kim received the "Technology Award" for contributing to the development and dissemination of technologies for environmental water conservation and improvement in Korea.

The Korea Federation of Water Science and Engineering Societies held a regular general meeting at the Kim Daejung Convention Center and held an award ceremony for each of its divisions.

Professor Joon Ha Kim said, "By understanding the importance of big data in relation to the newly emerging 4th Industrial Revolution, this has been a great opportunity to publicize the role of big data in developing technology for the smart water industry. We hope to lead future development for the water industry by re-establishing our goal of expanding into various disciplines."

The 2017 Joint Conference was held to coincide with the commemoration ceremony of the "2017 World Water Day" as designated by the United Nations. The theme of the 2017 Joint Conference was '"How to achieve water management for the 4th Industrial Revolution."

President Ik-tae Yum of the Korea Federation of Water Science and Engineering Societies said, "Our 2017 Joint Conference has become a venue for sharing our collective achievements. I would like to express my sincere congratulations and encouragement to the winners of each division."
