GIST Business Incubator hosts initiation ceremony for the 2017 GIST Sprint for Start-up program
□ The GIST Business Incubator hosted an initiation ceremony at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) on July 14, 2017, for the student teams selected for the '2017 GIST Sprint for Start-up (GSS)' program.
∘ The 'GIST Sprint for Start-up' program provides future entrepreneurs with innovative start-up ideas and with the opportunity to form a start-up team and gain real-world perspectives and management experience by engaging in entrepreneurial activities, such as performing market research and producing a prototype. The mock start-up program is intended to maximize the success rate of actual start-up business.
□ The student teams selected for the '2017 GIST Sprint for Start-up' program include: ▲ Help MI by Jeong-joon Cha for diagnosing myocardial infarction, which won the '2017 GIST Business Idea Competition' ▲ Only Smartphone by Gwang-jin Lin for measuring heart rate and blood pressure ▲ Mobile financial products comparison and matching service for customers by Hyuk Ahn ▲ Book positioning system for the library by See-yeon Ko ▲ High-functional protective film and coating solution for displays and electronic devices by Sung-yoon Jung ▲ Development of high-performance iron-based superconducting wire for MRI by Sehoon Seo ▲ Honey Project by Dae-wook Song ▲ Luggage Storage Service by Jung-wook Kim ▲ Fitaminz personalized health food solution by So-yeon Kim and ▲ Idol Miro by Seong-joon Choi.
□ The 10 teams supported by the GIST Business Incubator will receive funding of 5 to 8 million won, and they will have the chance to have intensive entrepreneurship education, including through the Kaufman Foundation.

□ The GIST Business Incubator Director Sung-Keun Gi said, "I hope that the GSS program will provide students who wish to start their own business with opportunities to develop a concrete and realistic business model."
