GIST hosts Jeonnam Women's Venture Association and the Jeonnam Manufacturing Promotion Association

□ The Office of International and Public Affairs (Dean Yong-Chul Kim) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) hosted a meeting for the Jeonnam Women's Venture Association and the Jeonnam Manufacturing Promotion Association on October 13 and 16, 2017.

* Gwangju Jeonnam Women's Venture Association (Representative Min-ja Im) was established to help develop women's venture companies by enhancing the management capacity of women's venture companies and by supporting commercialization of technology.

* Gwangju Jeonnam Manufacturing Promotion Association (Representative Myung-Sook Lee) is a group of companies in Gwangju and Jeonnam that utilize production technology, such as casting and molding processes. The association promotes the creation and modernization of manufacturing based companies.

□ On the day of the meetings, executives from the two associations visited the Hall of Fame in the Public Relations Center on the first floor of the Main Administration Building, and they visited various institutes and facilities such as the Nobel Research Center and the Research Institute for Solar and Sustainable Energies.

□ Representatives of the two associations, Min-ja Im and Myung-Sook Lee said, "We feel proud as a local citizen of having a meaningful time of actually experiencing GIST's outstanding research capacity. We look forward to GIST having an active relationship with venture companies and small and medium enterprises in order to promote local economic development."
