GIST Senior Friendly Industry Support Center host workshop

□ The Senior Friendly Industry Support Center (Director Kiseon Kim) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) and the Gwangju Metropolitan City hosted the "2017 Senor - Medical Industry Fair" at the Kim Daejung Convention Center from October 13 to 15, 2017,  to promote various organizations.

∘ The exhibition booths featured ▲ information from the three major senior friendly support centers in Korea about trends and the local senior-related industries and ▲ excellent products of senior-related companied from Gwangju.

□ In particular, the "2017 Senior Friendly Promotion Policy Workshop" was held on the first day of the fair, which discussed current problems for seniors in Gwangju and how to improve the situation.

□ The Gwangju Metropolitan City participated in this event along with other organizations and businesses, including ▲ National Reference Standards Center for Elderly Rehabilitation and Software ▲ Electronic Components Research Institute announced the development of smart aging services based on IoT platform Mobius ▲ Gwangju Information Culture Industry Promotion Agency introduced the Gwangju SW Quality Competence Center introduction and support program ▲ Gwangju Senior Friendly Industry Support Center provided in-depth presentations on research issues and policies affecting elderly people, including a proposal to establish a high-tech convergence medical industry support center and guidance for dementia support in 2018.

□ In the workshop, Professor Kiseon Kim (Center for National Reference Standard Center), Professor Il-yeop Ahn of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KITEC), Professor Ki-young Lee of Korea University (former NIPA Research Fellow) (Gwangju Area Ombudsman) discussed proposals about the senior-related industry, and they appealed for continuous support and activities of businesses and related groups in Gwangju to revitalize senior-related businesses in Gwangju.

□ Director Kiseon Kim head of the C Senior Friendly Industry Support Center said, "Establishing a high-tech convergence medical industry support center will improve the senior-related industry in the Gwangju area, and it will be able to benefit many related industries."
