□ The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) and Mirae Asset Daewoo (Senior Vice President Hyun-man Choi) met on November 28, 2017, to concluded a mutual cooperation agreement for the establishment of the AI-centered science and technology start-up town as a leading national project in the Gwangju area.
∘ Mirae Asset Daewoo signed a strategic alliance for joint digital finance with Naver this year with plans to jointly promote domestic and overseas businesses throughout digital finance and actively cooperate in new business fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance customer value. Mirae Asset Daewoo and Naver have completed an investment of KRW 500 billion to secure strategic partnerships and strengthen partnerships.
∘ This MoU includes ▲ Consultation on data sharing and analysis for national affairs projects, policy, technology and intelligence information services ▲ Expert networking for preparation and progress of national projects (seminars, exchange events, etc.) ▲ Attracting angel investment and venture capital for successful project of national task project ▲ Investment consulting for venture companies based on artificial intelligence and intelligence information technology ▲ Jointly establishing profit models based on the national task project.
□ With the signing of the MoU with Mirae Asset Daewoo, GIST will accelerate the development of national strategies and necessary tasks for national industrial development and the fourth industrial revolution era based on the results of the research. In particular, this is expected to act as a new leap forward with the resilience of the 'artificial intelligence-based science and technology start-up business development project' selected as a campaign project for the Gwangju area.
□ GIST President Moon said, "With this agreement, the technology and core competence of both institutions will be concentrated and spurred on the establishment of artificial intelligence based science and technology for the AI-centered science and technology start-up town in accordance with the presidential campaign promise to Gwangju."
