APRI signs MoU with the Gyeongbuk Marine Bio-Industry Research Institute

□ The Advanced Photonics Research Institute (APRI, Director Byeong Ha Lee) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) signed a research agreement with the Gyeongbuk Marine Bio-Industry Research Institute (Director Tae-young Kim).

∘ APRI and the Gyeongbuk Marine Bio-Industry Research Institute signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on December 15, 2017, to promote joint research and technical cooperation.

□ The two institutions will collaborate on joint research and share research facilities, equipment, personnel, expertise, and information to expand research and education.

∘ In particular, the two organizations plan to develop marine life resource materials for the activation of marine biotechnology industry and to research and develop various optical technologies related to them.

□ Director Tae-young Kim said, "Through this agreement based on mutual trust, we have strengthened competitiveness in marine life resources and optical technology development field, and joint research on marine biotechnology field has become possible. We will contribute to strengthen competitiveness of marine biotechnology field through further joint research."

□ Director Byeong Ha Lee said, Lee Byung-ha said, "With this agreement, APRI will contribute to the revitalization of the marine biotechnology industry through the development of photovoltaic technology that can be directly applied in real life, such as the development of small and sensitive sensors for monitoring water quality, as well as monitoring contamination and damage areas of marine pollutants."
