The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher education institutions in Korea while pursuing academic degrees. This program aims to enhance international educational exchange and foster mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.

GIST invites motivated and passionate students who wish to pursue a higher degree in science and engineering. If you are interested in the GKS program, please carefully review the GKS guidelines provided by NIIED and our official notice.

1. Application Deadline

4. Additional Requirements for GIST
Official English Proficiency Test Score Report (University Track & Embassy Track)
English is the primary language of instruction at GIST, and success in graduate studies depends on English language proficiency.
● Minimum required scores:
- TOEFL iBT: 80
- TOEFL PBT: 550
- IELTS (Academic): 6.5
- TOEIC: 750
- NEW TEPS: 285
● Validity period: The test must be taken within two years before the application deadline.
Exemption from the English Proficiency Test (EPT) Requirement:
Applicants are exempt if they hold a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited university/institution in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA.
(The degree program must have been at least two years in duration.)
Conditional Admission (Temporary Exemption):
- Instead of an official EPT score, applicants may submit a Certificate of English Language Proficiency issued by the president or dean of their last attended institution.
- There is no designated format, but the certificate must state that English was the medium of instruction.
Submission Deadline for EPT Score (Conditionally Admitted Students):
Applicants admitted under conditional admission due to the absence of an official English proficiency test score must submit valid EPT score results within 6 months of admission.
- If the degree program starts in the Fall 2026 semester, the deadline for submission is February 26, 2027 (Friday).
- Failure to meet this requirement will result in automatic removal from the school register.
5. Important Notes
- Applicants must follow all NIIED guidelines regarding eligibility, required documents, and other conditions when applying for GKS.
- All certificates must be either apostilled or attested by the consulate for submission to GIST under the GKS program.
