Second Event of Fall 2014 Special Cultural Lectures
On Register of May 18th Archives in UNESCO Memory of World
Former Minister Kim Young Jin delivered a special lecture in Oryong Hall on Tuesday, September 30, on the registration of the Gwangju May 18th Democratic Uprising Archives in UNESCO Memory of the World. The talk was presented as part of the Special Cultural Lectures for the Fall 2014 semester and was attended by more than 250 students of GIST Graduate School.
In addition to serving as Korea’s 53rd Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Kim was also elected to the National Assembly for five terms. As a member of the 18th National Assembly, Mr. Kim served as the chair of the committee that spearheaded the efforts to register the Gwangju Democratization Movement archives in the UNESCO Memory of the World.
Currently Mr. Kim is playing a leading role in various social activities to help underprivileged people including the homeless.
