and ULIM President Andrei Galben (center right).
On December 10, 2015, the Gwangju Institute of Science and
Technology (GIST) and the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM)
signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation at 10:00 AM
in Oryong Hall. The MOU is intended to promote joint research as well as
student and faculty exchanges between GIST and ULIM.
The Free International University of Moldova is in a
land-locked country in Eastern Europe. Founded in 1992, ULIM is located in Chișinău,
which is the capital of Moldova. ULIM has seven schools with approximately
8,000 students and 500 faculty members.
Many Moldovans are interested in Korean culture, and some
local students have learned Korean. This will help to promote student and
faculty exchanges with GIST, especially have 16 GIST College students
volunteered in the summer of 205 to assist with an IT educational program in
Moldova.
GIST President Seung Hyeon Moon said, "In the aftermath
of the MOU that has been signed between our two universities, we hope to make
vigorous progress with research collaboration as well as with people-to-people
exchanges. Developing international relationships with schools based in Eastern
Europe will help to promote mutual progress."
