Professor Inchan Kwon's research team develops artificial skin that can easily be used for Halloween parties

□ Professor Inchan Kwon of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Seung Hyeon Moon) led a research team that has developed a non-toxic artificial skin that can easily be used with make-up or for Halloween parties.

∘ Solving problems with existing products required a new approach that does not directly affect the face, but such a solution has never been developed.

∘ The make-up that is used in existing products take a long time to remove, and a person with sensitive skin is susceptible to the toxicity in cosmetics.

□ Professor Inchan Kwon collaborated with Professor Myung-Han Yoon and Professor Heung Cho Ko in the School of Materials Science and Engineering to make this easily attachable artificial skin.

∘ Non-toxic silicone and natural dyes are used to make the artificial skin resemble people's natural skin color, and non-toxic adhesive is used to easily attach and detach the artificial skin.

□ Professor Sun-hyung Kim's research team at the Gwangju Women's University manufactured the artificial skin, making it possible to replace make-up by simply putting it on the face. The artificial skin was developed for use in stage performances, such as musicals, but it is expected to have broader uses.

□ The non-toxic artificial skin was used at a Halloween Party held on October 27 and 28 (Sat) at the Gwangju Sangmu District Libertine Club. The artificial skin was easy to use with Halloween costumes at the party, so the participants were satisfied.

□ The research conducted by Inchan Kwon's research team was carried out with the support of Cultural Technology Development project organized by Korea Creative Content Agency. One patent has been filed for the non-toxic artificial skin, and two parties are interested in a technology transfer.
